Spring 2005

In March we took Ciára to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum near Dulles - the Udvar-Hazy Center.  She really loves airplanes, so we spent a couple of hours chasing her around America's Hangar.

Ciára got her very first boo-boo by falling down while running along the sidewalk.  Dad had a good time putting his EMT skills to work, although I don't think the "kiss it - all better" treatment was covered in the class.

In April, we took a week to drive down to Florida to visit Cath's parents.  We took it slow - two days, and Ciára was a very good passenger.  Nevertheless, she was VERY happy to get out of the car and see her Nona and Nonno.

Ciára got a kitty cat and they were inseparable for most of the business.

Ciára became fascinated with the watering can Aida keeps on her sun porch.  Fortunately the flowers are plastic and the can is empty, or she'd have drowned them by watering them 5 times a day

No trip to Florida is complete without a trip to the beach, so we headed off to Captiva on Sanibel Island.  Ciára got to find sea shells and swim with Dad in the Ocean.

A view of the Captiva Shore.   Thanks to Hurricane Charley, there isn't a tree over 8 feet tall left on this part of the island.

Ciára and Dad played catch with a tennis ball on the clay courts at Cath's parents.

She's really good at catching, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of throwing yet.

Since she can't throw, she spent a lot of time running the ball back to me.  This is good because it tired her out quickly.

Ciára had her first (of three) birthday parties in Florida - she's now big enough to blow the candle out.

After the cake and her first curse (see below), Ciára was all smiles.

While visiting Cath's parents in Florida in April, we sat down for birthday cake wisth some friends.  Ciára decided to pipe up with her very first curse.  Suprising everybody, it wasn't "bull$h!t", which she would have gotten from her dad.  What makes this video (2.6 MB) hysterical is that she repeats the word three times, and by the last time she's looking right at her mother as if to say "What part of *%&# don't you understand?"
