Cooperstown and the Hudson River

I took a day to go visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.  I flew in to Oneonta (N66) and was able to get a Rent-A-Wreck for the 20 minute drive into Cooperstown.  The Hall of Fame is being renovated, so while some exhibits are up, many are not.  The Hall of Fame is giving every visitor an invite to return for free in 2005, so it's worth the trip.  I didn't get any decent pictures of the Museum.

I then took the "long" way home, heading east to Albany and then following the Hudson River down to the south of Manhattan before heading west back to Frederick.  The Hudson VFR corridor is open and should be a "must-do" for any pilot in the northeast.    In spite of the haze (vis was 5-10 miles) I got some decent pictures.

My vote for best airport dog goes to this friendly Golden at N66 in the Catskills.  I almost dognapped him as a present for my daughter.

A power plant on the Hudson.  No fighters or gunships came after me.  Apparently the rest of the nation (besides DC) understands that little planes aren't a serious threat.

The School for Wayward Boys and Girls, better known as the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY

Crossing the George Washington Bridge.  Traffic is fairly light at 3 PM

Passing a Hudson Pier.  One of the famous Circle Line ships is in the foreground

The Empire State Building at Midtown Manhattan

The Intrepid Aircraft Carrier, with one of the Concorde airliners on the left (kind of shows how BIG a carrier is)

Lady Liberty.  She looks much better after her recent renovation.  I'm at 800 feet in this shot, and some helicopters are down at 500.
